WhAT Are EAR SEEDS?

The prettiest alternative treatment for everything from stress and anxiety, to migraines and stomach aches, ear seeds are somewhere between your ultimate earring constellation and acupuncture.
— ELLE MAGAZINE

Ear seeds are a safe and effective tool for stimulating acupressure points in your ear. The ear is a tiny map for the whole body. Hundreds of acupuncture points in the ear correspond to just about every organ, hormone and system in the body.

Ear Seed Acupressure is a form of auricular acupuncture or auriculotherapy, a really powerful tool used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, that uses Ear Seeds to apply pressure to these points on the ear that correlate to different organs and organ systems within the body.

Ear Seeds are tiny balls of gold, silver or crystal applied to the ear with an adhesive sticker.  We offer stainless steel, 24k gold and Swarovski crystal Ear Seeds.

Auriculotherapy helps to improve and regulate the body’s flow of energy, balance hormones, regulate your nervous system, and alleviate a large variety of ailments. The seeds stay on for 3-5 days, allowing them to have a prolonged effect on your body. Read on to learn what acupressure is used to treat and how to book an appointment with Malvina.

WhAT IS GUA SHA?

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that involves stroking the skin with a smooth-edged tool made of stone, bone, or porcelain.

The intention is to loosen the fascia and connective tissue to increase circulation, eliminate stagnation, and promote healing. This will eventually allow accumulated toxins to come up to the surface so they can be processed and eliminated by the body. Gua Sha also creates a “lifting” effect on your skin.

After a Gua Sha session, you may experience temporary bruising or discoloration of the skin. (Gua Sha done on your face would be much gentler than on other parts of the body.) The color of the marks depends on the intensity of the session (which will be adjusted according to the patient’s comfort), as well as the level of stagnation in the specific area. Higher stagnation will lead to darker marks as the blood can finally be released to the surface which will help improve the circulation. After a few sessions, the signs of stagnation will be eliminated, as well as the severity of the marks.

Benefits of Gua Sha

  • Relieves pain and muscle tension

  • Treats common colds

  • Stimulates circulation

  • Helps produce collagen

  • Softens fine lines and wrinkles

  • Decreases puffiness

  • Decreases inflammation

  • Diminishes dark circles

  • Temporarily tightens skin

  • Brightens complexion

  • Sculpts facial muscles

  • Assists with depression and emotional challenges

  • Releases tightness, especially in the back and neck areas

Aftercare

In the first 48 hours after Gua Sha treatment, it is important that you:

  • keep your body warm,

  • sufficiently cover the area which was scraped,

  • avoid overexertion, and

  • drink plenty of water to flush toxins out of your system.

Taking a warm bath can help ease soreness, which is normal to experience.  The marks or bruising should fade in 2-5 days.  If the bumps are slower to fade than this, blood circulation may be poor, and treatment should be continued.

Gua Sha is not an appropriate treatment for everyone. You need to disclose your medical history and existing symptoms or issues to your practitioner prior to treatment.

WhAT IS Cupping?

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which special cups are placed on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Glass cups create suction to release lactic acid that builds up deep in the muscles. Silicone cups can help improve circulation, release fascia and relax muscles.

It is like the inverse of a massage—instead of pushing down on muscles, it pulls up on them, allowing more space for them to release and relax. Cupping is great for respiratory conditions, headaches, muscle tightness and pain, and lots more.

cupping Benefits

  • Improved circulation

  • Decreased inflammation

  • Pain relief

  • General well-being

  • Headache relief

  • Release of muscle tightness

  • Deep tissue massage

  • Relaxation
